Adult Counselling

We offer you a bespoke counselling service, tailored individually to the needs of each client. Our approach is Integrative, and this approach is in fact our passion. The beauty of it is that we are able to consider every individual’s needs, that one shoe does not need to fit all. Techniques that we integrate come from the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, the Person-Centred approach, the Psychodynamic approach, Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/Tapping and various creative techniques such as Sand Tray and Art.

We offer a confidential one-to-one service in central yet private premises in the Antrim Town Centre.

Initial Contact – When you first contact us we will arrange a call of 10-15 minutes to assess your suitability for counselling and for you to get a chance to speak to your counsellor and ask any questions you may want to. After this we will arrange our first face to face session. During this session your counsellor will need to ask some questions and complete some paperwork which usually takes up the first 15-20 minutes, after which you will have an opportunity to talk about the issues that bring you. After this session you can decide if you wish to continue attending, and if so sessions are usually once a week for one hour.

Evidence Base – We are passionate about offering a service that is evidence based. We stay up to date with the latest research around counselling and what is most useful in recovery. We do not believe in only relying on older theoretical models of counselling, and through our study of psychology, try to stay abreast of neuropsychology research.

Neuroplasticity is a concept that suggests our brain can change physically and change our minds. This is quite a new concept but few now doubt its existence and relevance. There are various activities that research has now shown contribute to neuroplasticity, and we endeavour to include these within our practise. There are simple changes that we can make in our lives, that if practised regularly, have been shown can increase our happiness levels by up to 40%.

Many recent research studies also show the benefit of Mindfulness to the changing brain structure and dysfunctional habits and we attempt to introduce clients to this practise and develop positive habits of an ongoing basis.
